Your CASH for my STACHE

Through the style and grace of the moustache, I am raising money for a particularly worthy cause - Room to Read. They are a charity helping schools and libraries to be built across the world. From some of the schools I have seen in South East Asia, they need all the help they can get. Give, give, give! You can use the widget-y thing below or go straight to my donation page at: www.justgiving.com/stachetober

Sanya - 'The Hawaii of China' (July 08)

We recently managed to find 3 days to escape the city in search of some peace and quiet. Sanya is on a pretty large island off the coast of China towards Vietnam. We like.

Visit to Guilin & Yangshuo - China

Here are some pictures from our recent(ish) trip to Guilin in south-west China. Ma & Pa Eagle flew all the way from Norwich and were then forced to get on another plane the very next day to head deeper into the heart of darkness.

You can see the photos at a better resolution here...

Taiwan Road Trip

Perilous mountain roads, misty forests, craggy coastlines, deep ravines, crystal clear rivers - not what we expected from Taiwan. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Better resolution and extra stuff here...

Beijing 07

Some iconic Chinese images gathered from our recent trip to Beijing. It was a great city with loads of history and plenty to do and see. Great food (apart from bugs/snakes/scorpian kebabs in the night market which were all given a wide berth) and uber-hip bars. Highlights were treking along 6 miles of the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the 798 Art district which has contemporary art galleries in huge old factories and warehouses.

Moji Eagle

Here are a couple of pics of our cat - Moji. She is mental, but very cute. Kath is not happy with the fact that Moji seems to think her leg is a scratching post and by being woken up every morning with a sloppy lick of the chin (no not from Jake).

Wedding - Koh Chang

Our wedding in Thailand, on the beautiful island of Koh Chang 18/02/07. As you can see (or maybe remember if you made it) it was paradise and we were so lucky to have so many friends and family there to share it with us.

Japan 07

Below are some highlights from my trip to Japan with my school kids (notably absent in these photos which makes it look more like a holiday and not work). They include a trip to Hiroshima which was very moving, a visit to Miyajima (the red temple place) and some interesting liquour 'stores'.

Lantau Island Hike

Here are some pics from our hike along Lantau Island - as you can see we are complete hiking geeks. Yes, that's a specialist hiking type top on me and Kath is sporting a hikers bum-bag. However, it's all worth it - the views are amazing.

Dragon Boat Festival - Stanley, Hong Kong

Dragon Boat Festival: We finished a respectible 5th in our first race which meant that we qualified for the top competition... our first mistake. Needless to say, we weren't quite contenders for the big prize. Still, not bad for just two practise sessions - there were teams sent over from around the world to enter this competition.

Borneo - Malaysian Sabah

A school visit to Borneo - incredible place... even with 100+ school kids in tow. Proboscis monkeys, aligators, orangutans, sea turtles, school children - what an vast collection of wildlife.
